Union County Pools Open for Summer Swimming

UNION COUNTY—The Union County Department of Parks and Community Renewal is ready to open the county’s two public swimming pools.

The Walter E. Ulrich Memorial Pool located in Rahway River Park, St. George’s Avenue in Rahway, will be open for the season from June 21 through Labor Day, Sept. 1. The John Russell Wheeler Memorial Pool located in Wheeler Park, West Stimson Avenue and Route 1 in Linden, will be open for the season from June 23 through Aug. 15.

Group swimming lessons will be held at Ulrich Pool beginning June 30. Applications are available at either pool office for all ages, beginners through adults. Pre-registration is required.

Open swim sessions for seniors and for people with disabilities are held at Ulrich Pool on Mondays from 6-8 p.m. and at Wheeler Pool on Wednesdays from 10 a.m.- noon. Admission to these special sessions is free.

The Walter E. Ulrich Pool is open Monday and Wednesday from 1-8 p.m.; Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 1-6 p.m. and Saturday, Sunday and holidays from11 a.m.-6 p.m.

The John Russell Wheeler Pool: is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1-6 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday from 1-8 p.m. and Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 11 a.m.- 6 p.m.

Admission fees for county youth (17 & under) and seniors (62 & over) are $4. The fee for Union County adults is $5. Out-of-county residents pay $8 (youth and seniors) and $10 (adults)
