Clark Girls Softball Completes 2008 Season

CLARK—Clark Girls Softball League (CGSB) wrapped up the 2008 season in 100 degree heat with the annual year end picnic on Sunday, June 8, at the Deutscher Club in Clark. Featherbed Lane School allowed CGSB the use of their pool which gave the girls relief from the heat. The girls enjoyed boardwalk style games with prizes, moon walk, obstacle course, slide, DJ music and a large variety of food, drinks and ice cream. The dunk tank was another huge success with no shortage of volunteers!

Trophies, awards and championship plaques were presented to all the girls. The highlight of the day’s events was picking the Super 50/50 Raffle winner who won over $2,900. This year’s winners were Joe and Cathy DiProfio of Clark whose daughter Nina played for Eye Center of Clark in the Instructional division.

The travel season is in full swing with nightly games at the Brewer Softball complex through the end of July. CGSB will host two regional tournaments for teams from New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. From June 20-22, CGSB will be hosting the third annual 12 & under Summer Classic and on July 18-19, the third annual 10 & under Summer Classic at Brewer Fields. Games will be played all day with complete hot and cold concession services as well as carnival games, snow cones and cotton candy! Bring the family and show your support!

The board of directors thanked the many team and league sponsors, volunteer coaches, team moms, concession helpers, players and families for their endless hard work and dedication. CGSB teaches girls in grades K-8 the fundamentals of softball, team work and sportsmanship in a safe competitive and fun sports environment! If you would like to learn more about CGSB, visit
