Time Is Running Out To Register For Linden Day Camp

LINDEN – The registration deadline for the Linden Recreation Department’s summer day camp program is approaching. Parents can register their children online or in person before May 30.

“We want all our children to have a place to be during the summer. In the past, parents were concerned that if they didn’t register their children early, that they wouldn’t get into the program. This is no longer the case. We are now giving all children the opportunity to attend our camps. Registration will take place between March 24 and May 30. Any child who wants to be part of our Day Camp Program will be granted a spot,” said Alfred A. Volpe, superintendent of recreation.

Linden Day Camps will run from June 23 through Aug. 14 this year with new extended hours of operation of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. “These new hours will afford our parents the opportunity of dropping the children off on the way to work and picking them up on the way home without having to make plans for another person to pick the children up. We’re trying to make it more convenient for our citizens,” Volpe went on to say.

You can register your child for a Linden Day Camp by:

• Going to www.linden-nj.org and clicking onto CommunityPass. Follow the directions and include a payment of $200 per child by submitting your Visa or MasterCard number. You can sign your child up for camp utilizing this method, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

• Registering in person Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Community Center Building, 605 South Wood Avenue or the John T. Gregorio Recreation Center, 330 Helen Street or from 3:30 to 9 p.m. at the Linden Multi-Purpose Center, 1025 John Street.

Completed applications should include a copy of your child’s birth certificate and parents should be prepared to show 2 proofs of residency such as a driver’s license or utility bill.

It is mandatory that each camper’s parent/guardian/representative attend an Open House Orientation on Thursday, June 5, at 7 p.m. at the John T. Gregorio Recreation Center, 330 Helen Street. At the orientation, campers T-shirts, day trip information and day camp handbooks will be distributed. Additionally, all necessary medical and release forms will be discussed, you will be able to meet the recreation staff and have any of your questions or concerns answered. It is important to note that open house orientation is a mandatory meeting for each Camper’s parent/ guardian/representative. Failure to attend orientation will result in your child not being admitted to Day Camp on the first day.
