Here is some of my own research from the area. Tell me what you remember from the past with what is listed in this column.

Clark-Does anyone have memories or past material from “Clark Lanes?” In the 1960s, Bill Woods and Sal Tosto were the managers. Sometimes my column may have a business still in operation, but when this happens, it is asking for memories from the past of a well established place. Have a history of a long time, well established place in the area? It would make good material for one of my columns.

In the 1960s, Matthew Minnicino was the General Manager of the Howard Johnson’s Motor Lodge and Restaurant on Central Ave. They had 116 rooms and meeting facilities.

Remember when Clark Fire Department celebrated their 50th Anniversary in 1974? If anyone has history or past information on any fire department or first aid squads in the area, let me know!

A reader emailed me: “Lake Ave., in the mid 1950s was large stretches of undeveloped semi-farm land.”

Elizabeth-I have had readers write me about some of the many movie theaters that were once there Here are some more: Capitol Theatre, Elmora Theater; 144 Elmora Ave., Regent Theatre; 39 Broad St. and Royal Theatre at 841 Elizabeth Ave. In the 1920s, there was Arbeiter Gym Sports Club.

Linden-Have memories or past material of Linden Twin Cinema I & II? It was at 400 N. Wood Ave.?

Rahway-Have memories or past material for the Empire Theater at 1542 Irving St.?

Did you have your milk or other dairy products delivered by F.H. Cordes Dairy? Who was it that delivered your milk from this dairy or from other dairies in the area? Do you remember other goods delivered door to door?

If any reader can add to anything in this column please let me know to have some follow-up columns. I am sure there are many “former” teenagers out there reading my column. Were there any other bowling alleys in the area or ones that still operate where you have youthful memories? Where else did teens “hang out” in these towns? Sweet Shops, record stores, pizza places, gas stations, sporting good stores, etc? Where did you play pin ball or shoot pool? Where were dances held? Let me know around what years?

I do need to hear from more readers, especially Clark, Linden and Rahway, to continue my column! Please let me know in your correspondence if you want your name used with the past information sent. Your name does not have to be used. Send me your fondest memories from the towns below where you grew up.

If you have memories or past material on the history of libraries, houses of worship, past or present clubs, organizations, etc. let me know! Do you know someone with a great memory or that has past material, why not ask them to share with the readers. Have any past holiday information?

If you have your own memories or past material for Clark, Elizabeth, Linden or Rahway you can email me at dianenorekharrison@juno.com or send “copies” of your material to me at CMD Media P.O. Box 1061 Rahway, NJ 07065.

I was just doing a search for Clark Lanes, such as pictures. If you find anything please e-mail me. The only thing I have is an ashtray imprinted with Clark Lanes and its info at the bottom of the tray.
