LINDEN—A few weeks ago, Jaci Wozniak was a typical sweet 12-year-old, attending the sixth grade at Myles J. McManus Middle School. She was active with her school, her church, the Girl Scouts and all around town.
Now, Wozniak is facing the greatest challenge of her young life as she has recently been diagnosed with bone cancer. In response, neighbors, friends and classmates have formed the “Friends of Jaci Alliance” to raise funds that Wozniak and her family will need to cover medical and living expenses incurred throughout her illness.
The Linden Fire Department in conjunction with FMBA Locals #34 and #234, the school #9 K-Kids and the Blood Center of New Jersey will be sponsoring a blood drive for the benefit of Wozniak on Saturday, May 3, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Firehouse #4, 2400 S. Wood Avenue, Linden.
Wozniak is type A and can receive type A or type O blood and maybe platelets, which do not have to be type specific. She recently received unexpected surgery and is in need of blood. The Linden Fire Department encourages all residents to donate to this very worthy cause.
Additionally, the Friends of Jaci will be sponsoring a Spaghetti Dinner and Tricky Tray Benefit on Friday, May 2, at the Linden Moose Lodge at 43 Luttgen Place. For more information, contact Laura at 908-591-9051 or Michele at 908-727-1001.
