Day Camp Registration Begins Next Week

LINDEN—Registration for the Recreation Department’s 2008 Day Camp Program will begin on Monday, March 24, and will continue until May 30.

It is no longer necessary for Linden Parents to line up hours before to register their children in Linden’s Summer Day Camp Program. “Whenever you register your child, they will have the opportunity to attend our programs. We want all our children to have a place to be during the summer. In the past, parents were concerned that if they didn’t register their children early, that they wouldn’t get into the program. This is no longer the case, said Alfred A. Volpe, superintendent of Recreation.

Linden Day Camps will run from June 23 through Aug. 14 this year with new extended hours of operation of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. “These new hours will afford our parents the opportunity of dropping the children off on the way to work and picking them up on the way home without having to make plans for another person to pick the children up. We’re trying to make it more convenient for our citizens,” Volpe went on to say.

Beginning on March 24, you can register your child for a Linden Day Camp by:

• Going to the City of Linden website at and clicking onto CommunityPass. Follow the directions and include a payment of $200 per child by submitting your Visa or MasterCard number. You can sign your child up for camp utilizing this method, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

• If you do not have a computer, you may manually register your children at any City of Linden Recreation Center beginning Monday, March 24 through Friday, May 30 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Community Center Building, 605 South Wood Avenue or the John T. Gregorio Recreation Center, 330 Helen Street or from 3:30 to 9 p.m. at the Linden Multi-Purpose Center, 1025 John Street.

Remember you may only register your own child. When registering in person, you may pay the $200 registration fee by cash, check, money order or by Visa or Master Card. Completed applications should include a copy of your child’s birth certificate and parents should be prepared to show two proofs of residency such as a driver’s license or utility bill.
