An Evening Of Latin Rhythms

RAHWAY—The Union County Arts Center is thrilled to announce a blistering evening of Latin Rhythms.
On Saturday, March 29 at 8 p.m, the Union County Arts Center in Rahway proudly presents what promises to be one of the most breathtaking cultural music events of the season. Habana Sax blows into town to deliver their electrifying, virtuosic, anything but traditional performance. This musical exploration hurtles from African chants which suddenly spin into salsa, then without warning, salsa becomes a richly textured born-based jazz piece anchored in pounding Latin percussion. Cuban based, Habana Sax sets the scene with originality and humor, creating a visual and auditory spectacle. Their combination of Afro-Cuban, Caribbean, Salsa, Latin Jazz and Brazilian rhythms melt into a hot, percussive musical stew.
Opening the show are special guests, deSol, New Jersey’s own seven piece electric blend of spicy Latin rhythms and straight up American rock. A band with diversified backgrounds, deSol naturally infuses English and Spanish lyrics with melodies that range from fiery to folksy, mesmerizing audiences wherever they perform.
The Union County Arts Center is the hub of a richly diverse arts district. Neighboring cities are alive with the colors and flavors of Latino communities. The theater, located just two blocks from the New Jersey Transit train station, is a jewel in the midst of the city. The recent renovations have transformed this once battered RKO vaudeville house into a magnificent performing arts center complete with burgundy velvet curtains and gold leaf. Local restaurants are within walking distance of the theater and represent the various cultures that are a part of the district.
Come and experience the music; the universal language that is Latin Rhythms. Tickets are $27, $22 and $17.
